JUST A FEW MORE PICS

After the rest of the team left Chloe and I enjoyed a visit to "Cerro de la Crux - Hill of the Cross".  It was very peaceful on that hill & you could see the entire city of Antigua plus San Miguel and "Old Guatemala". This cross is said to be 468 years old and is about 30' tall.  Behind the cross is "Volcano de Agua - Volcano of Water" which is 12,356 ft high. This volcano destroyed the original city on September 11, 1541 and on March 10, 1543 the Spanish conquistadors founded present-day Antigua. That is when the"Cerro de la Crux" was erected to protect the city.

This young man is Jorge. He is living at a "Spanish School" near our hotel and is working on their web page. He and another Guatemalan friend Christina helped at Casa Angelina interpreting for the medical team. They seen 641 people at the clinic and in the village during the week...WOW! During  lunch with Jorge on Monday he told us that he has had no formal training in English but he learned it from watching English TV programs...amazing. Pray for Jorge, he needs wisdom and direction for his future and the school needs to have more people come to them to learn Spanish on a regular basis for the school to survive. They are considering Cyber School (SKYPE) as another option to learn Spanish.

This is the entrance to the place where we all ate our last dinner together as a team on Thursday. Chloe & I had to go back there to take a pic during the day because it was so beautiful. I have also added a pic from that restaurant of Mike ......guess what he had for dinner?

Anyone from trips years ago remember these "widow maker" shower heads? Well that is what our 2nd hotel had and yes that is black plastic covering the window. There was only an opening with bars outside. Hey what do you want for $15 a night.
Ok, this really is the end of our Guatemala  Blog. See you all again Next year.

MORE END OF WEEK PICS

Can't imagine who this could be......or could it be the same person who had paint poured on her head in prior years.

No explanation need here. Look at those smiling faces

Here we have a picture of "The Last .Supper" with the 12 disciples.(11 at the table + the photographer Sara).

Here is the Playground....complete & in it's new location.

Hey Scott, what's ya doing under there?

This is what we all looked like at the end of our last work day....tired and smiling on the inside & the outside!
Well I think this may.   be the end of our Blog. Thank you for your prayers & support. Ten of us are on a plane right now & headed home. Chloe & I will remain a few more days in Antigua. See you all real soon!

OUR WORK WEEK IS OVER...BOO HOO

Ron had to get the chain saw out & cut down part of a tree so we could run the power lines to Leah's house.
How much is that doggie in the window?? Everyday we stood beside this window with the doggie while we waited for our bus.
I think Mel spent the entire week painting. She started to coordinate her shirt color with the paint color.
Here is Mike "Helmet Head", hard at work as usual making sparks fly.

This is the electrical team. We are having way too much fun this week providing "light" for the children at Casa Angelina.

Mike & Lori are attaching the railing to the playground equipment. Now how is Lori going to hold that when Mike is ready to weld it fast?
I think Ron wants to take Kimberly home with him. What do you think Joanna, an instant big sister?

MORE PICS

Here is Sandy painting the playset Yellow.....look how well she blends in with it.

THURSDAY ALREADY?

It is hard to believe that it is Thursday already. We only have one more work day and there is still a lot of work to finish. The painting crew has been busy on the outside of the school & there are also a few folks painting the playsets.
The kids performed a few songs for us & did a really cool cowboy dance.... costumes and all.
Check out the mustaches on this young rustler.

The Cityview team members are the ones in the yellow shirts. Several of the orphans are sitting down front or being held & loved on by the volunteers.

Here is Sara with a boy from the village. This is his home and he is doing his chores, feeding the animals.
This pic shows how some of the palyground equipment was moved to it's new home. That is Ken behind the wheel or shall I say levers.

ANOTHER WORK DAY

Today we could actually see lots of progress. The painting crew finished painting in the school today. The paint fumes were so bad that the kids had off part of the day. But it looks like it's back to the classroom tomorrow.
Chloe & I had lots of help today from some folks from the South Dakota team to run conduit and wires. After lunch the two of us had the opportunity to walk down the road about a mile to see the widows house that another team was building. You will see some pics of that tomorrow. I forgot my camera card & don't want to walk back to our hotel to get it...sorry.
Looks like Mike & the guys have cemented some of the playground equipment in today. I also saw some of our gals painting the big swingset a beautiful royal blue color. Ron was asked to work on a "special" assignment in the guard shack....I think it had sometime to do with the electric fence system.
Look for more pics tomorrow and keep praying for the teams.

MORE UPDATE

We hope you are all enjoying the photos. Sorry we have not been able to get an internet connect except really late at night and when you have worked hard all day it makes it tough to wait while the pics download. Some of the pics we posted are from the sightseeing part of our trip. The rest have been showing the team working hard. Several of them disassembled & moved playground equipment closer to the "houses" so the house parents can see the kids while they play.Three of us were doing wiring for the past 2 days & will probably be working on that job all week. Others have been painting in the school. The kids had off today just so those painting could get in there & get the job done. Hey I just realized I didn't get any pics of our fearless leader Mike. Hummm, I wonder what he has been doing the past 2 days. Check back tomorrow.

MORE PICTURES FOR YOU TO ENJOY
